Into the kitchen, ready, set, go: Pickled red onions
Today we are presenting you with a delicious accompaniment for the upcoming barbecue season. Your burgers or sandwiches will be rounded off perfectly with these pickled onions. Of course they are also delicious served with roast beef!
Pickled red onions:
Ingredients for 4 people:
3 red onions
100 ml cider vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1 tbs mustard seeds
2 bay leaves
- 1. Peel the red onions and cut them into slices. Heat up the grill pan without adding any fat and grill the sliced onions for about 1 minute on each side. Heat up the vinegar, 200 ml water, sugar, mustard seeds, bay leaves and peppercorns in a pan. Add the sliced onions to the pan and leave to simmer for approx. 7 minutes. Season with salt. Pour everything into a glass jar with a lid and leave to steep overnight.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Waiting time: 12 hours
Tip: Pickled onions can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 months.
